Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Accolades.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old secured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of Consistency

Throughout the year, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine championship matches, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also triumphed at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka concluded the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.

She earned almost eighty percent of the votes cast by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a high-profile mixed-gender exhibition match with the aim of "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".

Other WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a 13-month break following the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after winning their second Grand Slam title together.
• Most Improved Player of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
