Spurs Boss Thomas Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not Real Fans'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Tension on Frank

Tottenham Hotspur fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed afterwards "they cannot be true Tottenham supporters" by boss Frank.

Tottenham conceded a pair of goals in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth top-flight at home defeat of the year.

However the primary talking point was the visitors' second goal when Vicario lost possession well outside his box.

He ventured out to deal with a long ball and took the ball towards the touchline.

However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

The forward passed the ball off to Welsh midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper again, some Tottenham supporters booed him.

Spurs were booed off at half-time, with the side 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.

One of those jeering sessions truly irritated the manager.

"I heard a few of our fans reportedly jeered the situation and booed following, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Dane stated regarding the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.

"[They] cannot be true Tottenham fans that act that way. Fair enough booing after the game, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are with each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had handed the visitors a early lead prior to Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an improved second-half showing.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Hart remarked that the second goal was "totally preventable".

"I do appreciate the fans' disappointment," the ex-keeper added. "I am aware the role the keeper is playing. He's a excellent team player, he's a true leader in the locker room but in the end you are going to be judged by your actions.

"He was deeply implicated in what turned out to be the decisive goal."

'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Keeper Vicario After the Game

Italian national team Vicario is in his third season with Tottenham.

The 29-year-old said after the match that he had to take the criticism.

"That goal was a error of mine, I accept accountability for it," he said.

"My aim was to clear the ball long and I just hit the ball in a poor manner. That made an even bigger challenge to climb."

He said receiving jeers "comes with the game".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "The team cannot be influenced by the circumstances in the stands. The fans have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on ourselves. We are missing in composure and calmness to overturn outcomes. This match is a bad loss and it is hard to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Line'

Despite Vicario's error, it was not an easy score for Harry Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the next longest-range Premier League score of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which interestingly too occurred on Saturday.

Wilson stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an open net to aim for.

10 seconds passed between the keeper exiting of his box and the midfielder shooting – which was 5 seconds following the clearance.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"I was surprised none of the back four went back to the line. When not one of them covered the net, my interest sparked somewhat.

"Udogie fell as well, which gave me a little additional time. After that it was all about trying to achieve the right connection and get it towards goal. I had a good sense, as soon as it left my boot, that it was heading in."

'During in a Poor Run, All Appears to Work Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - the Manager

While Vicario's error dominated headlines, this was an overall poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home struggles.

The match was their 10th home defeat of the year in the league, a shared club record along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against Frank's old side the Bees and title holders the Reds to come prior to the close of the season.

Only one of those wins have come after Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated Frank.

"When you're in a poor run, everything appears to go against you too – the first was a redirected attempt, the second is a error from Vic.

"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost another game. Each fixture has a single story, today we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to keep working. The later period was much better and hopefully something we can use to learn."

Spurs have lost four straight at home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are recording 9.5 attempts and 3.2 shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest rates on record in a single campaign (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Former Cottagers midfielder Murphy stated that Frank has to ride the storm.

"He's got accept the criticism," the pundit remarked. "He's accepted a prestigious role at a huge football club with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
